In addition to performing in traditional venues, Ellis Wood Dance performs site-specific works in unconventional locations. The company has pieces that can be transformed to inhabit various locations in an innovative and creative way on the spot. The company has also been commissioned to create original works specifically for certain sites. Recent projects include: Island Solutions Has been adapted to fit individual venues in Washington DC, Dresden, Germany, San Francisco, San Diego and Berkeley, CA. European Tour During our 2006 European tour to Amsterdam, Portugal and Germany, we will be performing site-specific works in all three countries. SiteLines Festival Lower Manhattan Cultural Council has commissioned Ellis Wood Dance to create a piece called Fire on Wall Street to be performed on the outer balconies of the landmark Cipriani Building, located at 55 Wall Street in New York City. Cowell Theater, San Francisco, CA Ellis Wood Dance with guests from UC Berkeley performed an installation throughout the theater lobby and main hallway. Benefit for the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, NYC Fire and Island Solutions were performed on balconies in the ballroom of Wall Street’s Cipriani Building. 40 Forward, NYC Dance Theater Workshop’s 40th Anniversary celebration Island Solutions was adapted to traverse floors 1-3 in the building’s main stairwell.
